In the maker's words

There are 12 (plus 1) moves to reach the inside of this finely crafted, intricate Japanese Puzzle Box. Included on the front and back are dazzling images of a panda bear and a bird, composed of different colored wood grains inlaid into the surface. The goal of the puzzle is to unlock several sliding panels in a specific order to reach the center chamber of the box. The panels will glide easily and fluidly when moved in the right way. After completing a series of moves, the lid slides open after the 12th step. The space inside is perfect for giving that special someone a gift, or for hiding your own treasures within. This box is co-branded with master Kenji Nakazato and Kubiya Japan.
