RELEASED: 11.1.2008 PRODUCED: 38 Copies DESIGNER: Eric Fuller CRAFTSMAN: Eric Fuller MATERIAL: Purpleheart or Walnut / Maple / Aluminum COMMENTS: My latest puzzle box, the 51 Pound box, has been about six months in the making. I thought up the design a long time ago, but it took a while to figure out the mechanics involved in implementing the concept. Each puzzle is supplied with one pound - the other 50 you must provide yourself! Painstakingly handcrafted from the finest materials, the box features some very nice inlay and intersting stepped miter joinery on the edges of the shell box. Custom internal mechanisms were hand milled from solid bar stock aluminum and took several weeks alone to make. While some of the mechanism is viewable once the box is solved, this box has a new feature I am trying for the first time. Inside each box is a card which explains how to close it, and also has a web address to a password protected directory. Owners who solve the box will be able to access the page, which contains a detailed history and explanation of the concept and design.
