RELEASED: 6.18.2015 PRODUCED: 46 Copies DESIGNER: Terry Smart CRAFTSMAN: Eric Fuller MATERIAL: Walnut, Bird's Eye Maple, Acrylic COMMENTS: I'm trying to include at least one interesting packing puzzle in each update, and the A-Pack absolutely overdelivers in that regard. The concept is unique and brilliant, and I'm very glad I made it. There are two sliding shuttles which are captured in the acrylic frame. The goal is to pack the pieces completely in, and it's very very difficult. Right off the bat you're faced with a level 12 shuffle to get two of the major pieces situated. The remainder comes along together nicely, not too simple yet not too difficult. This design absolutely deserves an A rating, and is quite a little gem! The construction of this puzzle took a very long time. Each bird's eye maple piece is milled from solid stock, with no parts glued in. The frame is reinforced with shoulders and the shuttles are precise glue-ups which took forever. Adding to the complexity was the captive acrylic which had to somehow remain unscathed during all the finishing and buffing.
