Designer Goh Pit Khiam has this to say about the puzzle: "I thought of the name when I remembered my two sons playing with some balloons. The number of moves in the burr "balloons" for the first piece to 33. Also the name ends in "loon" as in mad." Both Jerry and John struggled with this puzzle for countless hours, so they can definitely agree with the craziness this puzzle brings on.
