In the maker's words

This puzzle was e ntered in the 10th Karakuri Idea Contest and is being released from a private collection. A very limited number were offered for sale and this work sold out quickly. The box is described in the following manner, " This is a new “memory type” item. There are four buttons on the top. They are the key to the drawer. When you push the buttons in the correct combination, you can open the drawer. However, this key combination can also be reset to a new locking combination. The last combination you used when closing the drawer will become the new combination lock. Using only 4 buttons you can create up to 16 different combination locking codes. This item is interesting and easy to play. Can you imagine the type of mechanism used?" The original idea by Yosuke Tanaka and craft by Hiroshi Iwahara. Comprised of M aple, Magnolia, Cherry, Padauk, Keyaki(Zelkova), Rosewood and Walnut and measures 104 x 98 x 98 mm.
