In the maker's words

RELEASED: 1.31.2015 PRODUCED: 49 Copies DESIGNER: Eric Fuller CRAFTSMAN: Eric Fuller MATERIAL: Cherry, Peruvian Walnut COMMENTS: Ages ago I made a couple of smaller puzzle boxes with mitered corners and reinforcing splines. Appropriately enough, I called them the "Splined Boxes". I have always had a couple other ideas for that particular joinery format, so I decided to make a couple more in the series. These next two will be the Splined Box #3 and #4. The fourth is available as a reservation with a $25 deposit, and will be released in March 2015. Splined Box #3 is a little bigger than the first couple boxes and uses a more stable wood. Very nice cherry with walnut splines that should stay stable. I would estimate the box to be moderate to difficult, depending on how quickly the solver figures out the tricks and locks used. Everything must be aligned just so; this is not a solution you will stumble upon by mistake. I was not able to provide a photo of the box opened without giving away a lot of hints, so I hope a simple picture of the exterior is compelling enough. It opens. Trust me. It may just take you a while to figure out how :-) 49 copies made for sale, each signed and dated.
