In the maker's words

DESIGNER: Scott Eliott MATERIAL: Brass SIZE: 3" (74mm) This is an impossible object! The puzzle is to decipher how it was made and how it functions. The Monkeys Nuts is Two Brass Monkeys' take on Scott Eliott's "Its Nuts" design. Originally only available in 3D print by Scott, our version is a beautifully crafted solid brass bolt with two nuts threaded on it. But all is not as it seems! A fine piece of mechanical engineering makes this bolt very, very special. To remove one nut turn it clockwise. To remove the other, turn it counterclockwise. If you hold the two nuts and rotate the bolt they each move in different directions...this is seemingly impossible, as the bolt has the same thread along its length. Milled from solid stock and measuring nearly 3" x 1", the entire assembly weighs a whopping 16 ounces. This object is large and very well made. Handling Metal Puzzles All metals tarnish over time. Residual oil and salt from handling speed up the process and may leave undesirable fingerprints. Occasional use of our Metal Puzzle Polishing Kit with a coat of Renaissance Wax will keep your metal puzzles in tip-top shape!
