This work was designed and sold through a 2025 Karakuri Lottery and was a limited release. The crafter describes their work as, “Raichō means ptarmigan in Japanese. I made Karakuri boxes featuring male and female ptarmigans in their winter plumage. Each mechanism is different. The female is pure white except for the underside of her tail. The male has black around his eyes.Their legs, which I found most distinctive, appeared sturdy, and their gait and running style were powerful.I hope you'll enjoy each bird's appearance and its mechanism. *Ptarmigans inhabit the northern regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with Japan marking the southernmost limit of their range. " Crafted in Mizuki (Dogwood), Magnolia and Wendge. Measures approximately 79 × 46 × 75 mm . with a storage space of 19 × 33 × 27 mm. (male)/23.5 × 30.5 × 24 mm.(female) Arrives with opening instructions and gift box.
