In the maker's words

This is an extremely RARE piece and we have not seen one similar before. This Double Compartment box has an extremely nice finish for a vintage box HOWEVER, one of the kannuki (slides shown in picture #3) have come loose and the side shows some warpage. The box opening mechanism is NOT functional as the rails separating the two compartments do not fit correctly and this box can be easily separated. If you are handy and can repair this box, we believe it would be very valuable. Having a Zougan Ship on front and Scotty Dogs on the back, we think this piece will not last long for the price! This box is STAMPED "Occupied Japan" and as you can see is simply BEAUTIFUL! Measures* 7 x 4.75 x 2.875 inches
