Unmatched
The short answer
Unmatched is a tactical skirmish system built from preconstructed character decks, positioning, and asymmetric powers. Fighters mix across sets, while Adventures boxes add cooperative enemies. Puzzlewick maps the best first purchase for versus, solo, cooperative, collector, and tournament-minded players.

Questions, answered
What is the best Unmatched set for a beginner?
Tales to Amaze is the most versatile first box when solo or cooperative play matters; a two- or four-fighter versus box is cleaner when every session will be competitive.
Can all Unmatched fighters play against one another?
Fighters are broadly cross-compatible, but matchup balance varies. The system is designed for expressive asymmetry rather than identical tournament parity.
Can Unmatched be played solo?
The Adventures boxes support solo and cooperative play against scenario villains. Standard versus boxes do not provide that mode by themselves.
