One Piece OP-18 vs OP-17: Buy Now or Wait?

Bandai schedules English OP-18 for November 20, 2026, with Water Seven, the Holy Knights of God and the card-game debuts of Gunko and Shamrock. English OP-17 released August 28 and celebrates the fourth anniversary with Elbaph, Rocks and the Four Emperors. OP-18 announcement; OP-17 details.

Wait if OP-18’s announced cast is your reason to buy. Choose OP-17 if you already want its opening experience. A later set number does not make an earlier set obsolete. If one exact card is the goal, compare that single before paying for randomness.

The checked English OP-17 offer is one 24-pack display, with 12 cards per pack. The PRB-02 alternative is a 20-pack display with 10 cards per pack. Those are different products and opening experiences; neither label means a case. Resolve conflicting titles and photos before checkout.

Require English explicitly if that is your intended purchase. Bandai’s regional language list distinguishes English and Japanese regions; some regions allow both. Official DON!! cards have a separate language allowance. Ask your organizer about the event you will actually enter before treating a cheaper import as interchangeable.

Separate the publisher’s release date, the seller’s dispatch estimate and the destination-specific arrival window. For a fixed celebration, choose an offer whose current delivery and cancellation terms fit. Our October 22 Amazon check did not produce a qualified exact English OP-18 offer; that bounded result does not establish worldwide unavailability.

The ST-31 publisher specification lists 51 constructed cards including the Leader, 10 DON!!, a playsheet and one OP-16 booster. ST-32, ST-33 and ST-35 share that packaged structure. One chosen starter gives a beginner a coherent entry point; the bonus pack is not an OP-17 or OP-18 deck-building guarantee.

Bandai presents red Luffy ST-31 around attaching rested DON!! to Characters and green Zoro ST-32 around consecutive attacks. Pick the pattern or character that makes you want to learn. These are publisher descriptions, not our tested matchup rankings or a promise that either wins a current tournament.

The blue Kuzan ST-33 pitch emphasizes cycling through the hand; red/black Sabo ST-35 emphasizes board pressure. A different color plan means different cards to evaluate later. Buying all these starters is optional collecting, not a requirement to begin. Purple Katakuri ST-34 is another complete starter: its official pitch uses knowledge of the opponent’s top card to plan ahead. Choose it for that pattern or character, without buying every starter.

Our suggested sequence is simple: learn the turn structure, identify one recurring awkward decision, then replay before changing the list. Write down the card role you lacked rather than ordering the card from the most exciting clip. This is a proposed learning routine, not a claim that we tested these starters.

The tournament manual requires one Leader, 50 main-deck cards and 10 DON!!. Main-deck colors must match the Leader; the normal maximum is four of one full card number. An alternate illustration does not create a new identity for that limit. Check current restrictions separately.

Bandai’s October 12 update is in force at this article’s October 22 check. It bans OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk. Do not extend that restriction to every card named Mihawk: the ST32-003 printing is a different number. Check the complete current list and any banned pairings before adopting an older deck result.

The manual applies a seven-day delay to new sets at Level 2 and 3 events; Level 1 and prerelease provisions differ. Applied to November 20, that gives November 27 as the calculated seven-day point, not a promise about every tournament. Limitless’s upcoming calendar lists OP-17 for Oklahoma City November 21 and OP-18 for Alicante November 28; confirm the organizer’s actual format.

In his August 21 pre-release article, TCGplayer editor Peter Day describes importing the whole Elbaph package into unrelated Leaders. His OP-17 analysis is a useful reminder to evaluate supporting cards together, but predates the October ban. EgmanEvents’ September OP-17 webcam event explicitly allowed Proxies Legal; it illustrates a private testing context, not Bandai approval. Egman also operates commercial subscriptions and a store. Choose the full card number and language first, then decide whether the illustration matters to your collection. A deck purchase and a display purchase can reasonably prioritize different printings. Check the actual printing and condition rather than assuming every version of a character is the same card.

Bandai cautions that multiples of one card may appear in its OP-18 specification. Budget for the opening itself; do not require a chase pull to repay it. Its written 127+1 type count conflicts with the preview pack’s printed 126+1. We retain the unaltered provisional artwork and use the current written specification, without promising final packaging or pull odds.

For like-for-like sealed offers, divide the final delivered total by the verified pack count. Include delivery in your own calculation and keep the language and format constant. A lower per-pack result does not answer whether you prefer the set or need its cards.

Write the card number, language, printing, condition and quantity you need. Combine delivery across the intended orders before comparing that basket with sealed entertainment. The list provides a stopping point: a dramatic alternate illustration should not quietly replace an ordinary deck card you meant to buy.

One Piece Card The Best Vol.2 is an English premium booster released October 3, 2025, combining reprints with new cards. Its 20-pack display is a deliberate alternative for that card pool, not OP-17 anniversary stock or an early OP-18 substitute. Check the exact cards you want before choosing it.

These intact publisher samples show Monkey.D.Luffy OP17-079, Rocks.D.Xebec OP17-039 and Loki OP17-119 in their pictured alternate illustrations. They show what that exact artwork looks like; no specific card is guaranteed in the linked random display. Collector preference and deck utility are separate reasons to choose a printing.

The manual requires main-deck sleeves identical in terms of color, wear and design. Use opaque main-deck backs, keep Leader and DON!! visually distinct and carry matching spares. Bandai’s Official Sleeves 12 contain 70 of one design per pack; choose one design and check the selected pack. Count what you need before buying.

The licensed Netflix Usopp Sidewinder 80+ is rated for 80 double-sleeved cards using Ultimate Guard sleeves. The maker cautions: Sleeves from other brands may affect the capacity. Count the Leader and DON!! as well as the main deck and test closure without pressure. The capacity is not our measurement or universal sleeve compatibility.

The Going Merry Omnihive 1000+ offers two compartments and movable magnetic trays. Its up-to 1000 double-sleeved rating uses the maker’s sleeves; your stack may differ. It is empty storage, not a sealed card assortment. Choose it for an existing multi-deck collection rather than making it a compulsory first-deck purchase.

The licensed Netflix Devil Fruits mat measures 610 by 350 millimeters and is 2 millimeters thick, with stitched edges and a rubber base. Measure the usable seat area before choosing it. A mat is optional; the tournament manual does not require one. Leave room for the rest of your play area and follow the event’s space allocation.

Wait for a specific OP-18 reason, choose OP-17 for a wanted opening, or begin with one starter and a few games. For an exact deck upgrade, work from card numbers and today’s event rules.
