What do I need to start painting Warhammer models?
Five things: a can of spray primer, a few Base paints, one Shade wash, a medium brush, and a detail brush. Citadel Base and Layer paints come in 12ml pots, while Shade washes come in bigger 18ml pots, and the honest order of operations is prime, base coat, wash, then highlight — a Shade like a black or brown wash does half the work of making a first army look finished. Add a pair of clippers and a hobby knife for getting models off the sprue, because twisting them off by hand snaps ankles and bayonets.
Do Warhammer 40k cards fit standard card sleeves?
The mission deck cards do — the big datasheet cards don't. Chapter Approved mission cards are standard trading-card size (63.5x88.9mm), so any standard 66x91mm sleeve fits them fine. The 10th edition datasheet cards are oversized at roughly 161.5x107.1mm, so those need dedicated oversized sleeves or dry-erase pouches — which are actually great, because you can mark wounds right on the sleeve.
What glue should I use for Warhammer miniatures?
Plastic glue for plastic kits, super glue for everything else. Plastic glue (polystyrene cement) slightly melts the two surfaces together, so the joint is basically permanent and forgives sloppy fits. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) is for resin and metal models, where plastic cement does nothing at all. Since nearly every current Games Workshop kit is plastic, start with plastic glue and keep a small super glue on hand for repairs.
How many dice do I need to play Warhammer 40k?
At least 20 six-sided dice — 40k and Age of Sigmar both run almost entirely on D6s, and a big unit can throw 20 to 30 attack dice in a single roll. Rolling them all at once instead of five at a time keeps the game moving, so a brick of matching D6s is one of the best cheap upgrades you can make. Grab a tape measure too: every range and move in the game is measured in inches.
Should I buy premium Warhammer 40,000 accessories immediately?
No. Let repeated play expose the actual problem: worn cards, unclear public zones, unsafe transport, slow setup, or difficult retrieval. Premium products should solve one of those jobs.
