Eric Fuller
Heirloom burr & puzzle-box maker · Cubicdissection · USA
Eric Fuller was an American master craftsman who designed and built fine mechanical puzzles under the Cubicdissection name. He came to puzzles as a collector in 2002 after buying a Japanese puzzle box on eBay, and—frustrated that he could not buy enough quality burrs for his collection—taught himself woodworking in 2003 using a hand saw and chisel on his kitchen table.
He launched cubicdissection.com in late 2002 to display his collection, began selling his own work in 2004, and went on to craft full-time for two decades. Cubicdissection became one of the foremost sources for high-precision interlocking puzzles, burrs, and puzzle boxes, valued for pairing top-tier workmanship with relative affordability.
Fuller built his reputation collaborating with leading designers and producing other makers' work to exacting tolerances. He died suddenly in November 2022; the business has continued under new stewardship.
Style signature
Crisp, high-tolerance joinery in exotic and figured hardwoods, with a love of burrs and 'extremely difficult to open' trick boxes. His pieces are known for clean fit and meticulous finish rather than ornamentation.
